Dr. Chris Smith is Senior Executive Consultant at Truist Leadership Institute. Through the delivery of Truist Leadership Institute programs, he facilitates transformational career experiences for internal and external clients. Dr. Smith has held this position since August 2017 and is a member of the Truist Leadership Institute Consulting Team.
Previously, Dr. Smith built and led nationwide recruiting, the development and delivery of customized training programs, and a succession planning structure at a national construction firm. Dr. Smith served at Elon University as the Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Director of Employer Relations. During this time, he oversaw career and professional development services and strategic employer and alumni partnerships. Prior, Dr. Smith was responsible for credential accreditation, contract development, and staff leadership as the Director of Professional Development for the National Board for Certified Counselors. This range of experience has provided Dr. Smith with the expertise to support individual development journeys while driving broader organizational outcomes.
As a thought leader, Dr. Smith has authored numerous publications, including two peer-reviewed journal articles. He is often a speaker at professional conferences and has previously served on professional and community boards.
